From our research we have narrowed down our target audience to a niche range. By analysing music videos, adverts and digipacks over a range of different musicians within the electronic/ dance genre it became clear that the specific age range they are focused towards is young adults, typically between 16- 25. This was shown through a variety of different features used, for example young parties including drinking, smoking and drugs. As a result of this, we asked mostly teenagers to fill out our questionnaire as these were the opinions that we most valued.
When researching into the electronic/ dance genre, it was clear that it was biased towards the male gender. This was shown through sexualising women and the use masculine colours. Finally, another area of our target audience is that the genre typically aims itself towards the lower/working classes. Usually, the artists within this genre are from these lower class areas of the UK and show their roots through frequently, for example, showing their hometown on an advertisement and featuring lower class situations like underaged drinking and street gangs.
By narrowing down our target audience to a niche range will help us with both the designing and creating our music video as we can then use specific colours/ features which will appeal to our target audience.
