To edit our footage to create our music video, we used the programme 'Final Cut Express'. Having barely used this programme before, editing has been a trial and error process. When editing our footage, the first steps we needed to make was to watch all our clips over and cut away all the footage that was no use. This significantly help us to narrow down our quantity of videos so that we could only use the decent clips that would strengthen our video. We cut away sections of clips by using two methods; one was placing the clip onto the timeline then using the razor blade tool to section away parts of the clip. And the other, was to watch the clip back on the visual screen on the left, to then put markers in place where we wanted the clip to both begin and finish. These two process are what we used most frequently throughout our editing process, as many of our clips had to be made exceptionally short and sharp in order to follow the quick, fast paced beat.
What we have found most difficult when producing our music video within Final Cut Express is knowing which clips to use when, and how to sort them in an order which was the most beneficial in keeping everything tidy. This became a frequent problem when wanting to use a section of a clip again, our timeline then became messy and unclear.
Throughout using this programme we have learnt and discovered new ways of editing which has helped strengthen the quality of our music video. It has become clear that it is a trial and error process, but by doing so, it has helped us understand what works and what doesn't for both our theme and genre.
